Hello Families!
My name is Emily Kallenberg, and I am so excited to be teaching this year! This is my third year at St. Christopher’s, and I cannot wait to get to know you!
“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages” (William Shakespeare). Passion leads my life. My passions have manifested themselves in three basic categories: Theatre, Education, and Young Children. While attending the University of Dayton for my Bachelor of Arts Degree, I had the opportunity to work on over 46 productions during my 3.5 years. I was granted upon graduation the coveted “Dr. G Award” for commitment to the main stage as well as over 12 other theatrical awards for various roles. It wasn’t until my final year that I dabbled in the art of children’s theatre. A whole new world opened up for me and in the process, a whole new passion.
I began working as a Youth Theatre Director in the Dayton and Cincinnati area. I had many opportunities to work both in school systems as well as independent companies. As I continued to move through the community, I found myself at Stivers Magnet School for the Arts. There I worked as a teacher’s aide, and I witnessed first hand the power of theatre in the youth of our world. I witnessed children develop confidence and leadership skills. I knew then that I had to be a part of the education movement.
I returned to the University of Dayton for a Masters degree in Education. After completing my licensure, I pursued a teaching environment where not only could I grow individually, but also where I could join a strong Community. This led me to St. Christopher’s. I am so looking forward to this adventure. With patience and high expectations, I plan to help all of my students succeed.
My entire life is led by my passion, and I look forward to fueling the fire. “This above all; to thine own self be true.” (William Shakespeare)
Remember to breathe,
Mrs. Kallenberg
