Happy Catholic Schools Week!
January 28-February 1
Catholic Schools Week Fun!
Monday - crazy sock day!
Tuesday - 2M wears green!
Wednesday - dress nice day and bring in a Household Item for the Ronald McDonald House (a paper came home with the Catholic Schools Week page - we're collecting items like Lysol wipes, Swiffer pads - or gift cards work too!)
Thursday - dress as your future self!
Friday - spirit day!
Religion: This week we'll be focusing on Catholic Schools Week activities and working in our textbook. We'll have some visiting Student Teachers (6th-8th graders applied) on Friday too! They'll be leading us in a fun activity!
Reading: We will be reading Mr. Tanen's Tie Trouble by Maryann Cocca-Leffler and celebrating 100 days of school! This story incorporates money management, community building and support and of course, our usual reading skills.
Math: We will be jumping into the second half of our chapter on money and time. Please keep practicing with coins and analog clocks! Don't forget to keep up with flashcards too!
Science: We are working on understanding matter, mass, gravity, push/pull, forces, energy and magnets!
Social Studies: We'll wrap up on timelines and primary/secondary sources!
February 4-8
Well, Ohio... this week will be a bit of a catch-up week!
Religion: We will be discussing February's virtue: cheerfulness! We will also be getting through our chapter in our textbook - focusing on why Sundays are special, feast days + favorite saints, and God's creation.
Reading: We will be continuing (really re-starting) our story on Mr. Tanen. We will be looking at understanding characters and the story structure of realistic fiction.
Math: We officially start time this week (hoping we don't have another surprise snow day!). Our test on money and time will probably be around the 13th or 19th depending on how well we're doing with time.
Science: We continue working on matter, mass, and various forces.
