Happy Fall! Oh it's my favorite time of year!
This week...
Religion: We are wrapping up Unit 2 in our textbook. This Unit was on understanding sin, conscience, free will, and God's unending mercy. We assessed our knowledge of the 10 Commandments and are making Prayer Posters for our classroom walls. I love how energized this group is to learn more and share what we know about our beautiful, inspiring Catholic faith.
Reading: We are reading Animals Building Homes by Wendy Perkins and discussing the habitats of different animals. We are looking at writing informational paragraphs filled with facts! We'll also be working with plural nouns and words with common final blends (see spelling words).
Math: We finished Chapter 2 and are testing on Tuesday. We are jumping ahead to Chapter 11...geometry! We'll explore what we know and what we will learn with various shapes and fractions.
Social Studies: We will be creating our Landform Booklets to visualize all of the types of landforms we have learned.
Science: We are studying animal life cycles and introducing our weekly ecosystems. This week's adventure is jumping into the Woodlands of North America! We will become Habitat Rangers and earn badges over the course of the next few weeks.
Next week...
Religion: We will be looking at Unit 3 in our textbook. This Unit covers Jesus' life and ministry and how that relates to our own lives. We'll discuss how Jesus was sent by God to be save us from sin and give us new life in Heaven!
Reading: We will finish and test on our informational text from the week before. We will also begin our next story, Jellies: The Life of Jellyfish by Twig C. George, which is also related to habitats...but in a much different setting!
Math: We'll continue with Chapter 11 and focus on classifying shapes and breaking them into parts.
Social Studies: We will read our second magazine: Location, which will include using different types of maps and their keys/legends.
Science: We will fully begin researching our animals and answering the necessary questions that we, the Habitat Rangers, are ready to ask! We will be looking at our second ecosystem: the ocean!
